The Armed Man

Subtitled ‘A Mass for Peace’ and written in 1999, Welsh composer Karl Jenkins dedicated this work to victims of the Kosovo crisis. He combines elements of the Catholic mass with other musical sources, such as the 15th century folk song ‘L’homme armé’, to haunting effect. It is score for orchestra, four-part chorus and soprano and muezzin soloists.
